History

The International Chamber Music Course for young string players was set up in 1998 to give young players the opportunity of discovering the world of chamber music making which in Italy is available only to older graduates and post graduate students. The high standard of tuition by an international team of teachers has made the Course a reference point for many students from all over Europe.

Valentin Berlinsky, Natalia Gutman, the Borodin Quartet and Mstislav Rostropovich are among the many well known musicians who have given master-classes at the Course during the past years.

Over five hundred students from fifteen countries have taken part over the last eleven years : Ireland, France, England, Scotland, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Brasil, Argentina, United States, Uzbekistan and Italy. The atmosphere at the Course in Pra Catinat has nurtured long standing friendships, musical and social that transcend the passing of time.
