Information
The Course is intended for:
- young undergraduate string players who have studied
their instrument for at least four years and aged between
14-24 (exceptional cases will be taken into consideration).
- existing groups (e.g. string quartets) for which a special
programme will be devised.
Duration: the course starts on July 26th and ends on
August 7th 2010.
Lessons: 6 hours per day, divided into three sessions of
quartet or other chamber grouping plus a string orchestra
session. Lessons will take place at the Pra Catinat
Centre.
Accomodation: the Course is residential. Students and
staff will receive full board accomodation at the Pra
Catinat Centre in the heart of the Italian Alps near
Sestrière (Turin). Rooms are shared (2 or 3 pupils).
Masterclass: some students will be selected to participate to the masterclass held by cellist Rohan de Saram; all the pupils will have the chance to assist to the lessons.
Special activities: during the course, didactics will be combined by special activites such as trekking and workshops. A special body expression workshop will be held by Oscar Valsecchi.
Scholarships: some scholarships are available.
It is necessary to apply for these scholarships when making
the initial application to the course. The artistic and
teaching staff will make the final decision on the successful
applicants.
Concerts: the concert series Incontri con la Musica da Camera will be held in the surrounding area, in collaboration with the Forte di Fenestrelle. Students, teachers and guests will play in the concerts.
