13th International Chamber Music Course for Young String Players
26th July-7th August 2010 - Pra Catinat, Torino (Italy)

Special guest: Rohan de Saram

Honorary President: Dr. Hugh Maguire

The 13th International Chamber Music Course for Young String Players, organised by the Xenia Ensemble Association (Italy) in collaboration with ConCorda (Eire) will take place at the Pra Catinat Centre - Fenestrelle, surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Orsiera Rocciavrè park, 30 minutes from Sestrière (Turin).

The course, which is residencial, is open to a maximum of 50 students. The philosophy of the Course is to convey all the musical and technical skills required to play chamber music with enthusiasm and in a collaborative spirit. The students will be coached by highly qualified musicians who will also perform in a series of concerts during the course.

In its history, the Course had guests as Natalia Gutman, Valentin Berlinsky, Dora Schwarzberg and Mstislav Rostropovich. Special guest for 2010 will be cellist Rohan de Saram.

The course programme consists of three daily sessions (quartets, trios, quintets) and one orchestra session. Every student plays in three different groups, each one coached by a different member of the teaching staff. Specific programmes are devised for established quartets (trios/quintets) who wish attend the course. At the end of the two weeks, all students will participate in both Passeggiata musicale at the San Carlo Fortress of Fenestrelle and in the Final Concert.
