Body expression workshop
Exciting new event in the 2010 Course: mime actor Oscar Valsecchi will guide the students in a series of workshops that explore the relationship between sound and movement.
These workshops are made up of different sections which envisage working both in small groups and in larger groups. Warm- up exercises and body awareness exercises gradually take on a theatrical aspect; one group of students acts out these movements while a second group , under the guidance of one of the teachers, improvises on the actions that are taking place. The exciting exchange between movement and improvisation creates a harmonious interplay that involves sound, body movement, feeling of space and equilibrium.
Many of the exercises, based on mime acting exercises, work specifically on posture, rhythm, intensity of body movement and articulation and are called “scales”, as in the musical term. This technique will enrich every student’s body movement vocabulary and body expression and will provide each student with a better awareness of performing on stage individually and in groups.
